MS ACCESS 2007 Printing Table Field Descriptions

Posted on 2009-12-17

IN ACCESS, you can enter a description for each field in a table in the TABLE>DESIGN VIEW>  However, there soes not appear to be anyway to print out this view. It would be great user documentation to be able to print out the table design view as it would show the field name, data type, and Description.  None of the options in the database documentor or reports has the description.

    try this codes

    Sub getFieldDescription()
    On Error Resume Next
    Dim tbl As dao.TableDef
    Dim fld As dao.Field
    Open "C:\myFieldDesc.txt" For Output As #1
        For Each tbl In CurrentDb.TableDefs
            For Each fld In tbl.Fields
               Print #1, tbl.Name & " > " & fld.Name & " > " & fld.Properties("Description")
            Next fld
        Next tbl

    Close #1
    End Sub

    that will create a text file  myFieldDesc.txt in C"\

    Outstanding.... I do not see how Microsoft could not have realized the need to print out a table field listing with the self documenting descriptions.

    THanks again
