Opening .csv files in a default template in Excel 03/07

I have a 3rd party software that exports reports to a .csv format.  I want to be able to open the .csv file in Excel using a default .csv template?  Is this possible with Excel 2003 or 2007?

Offcourse, just name the extension of the file .csv and click open with microsoft excel.

As simple as that :)

As a cumbersome work around, you could set up an excel file with one sheet for reading/importing your CSV file, and a second sheet that is linked to the various columns on your import sheet.  You format that second sheet to meet your default needs.  Program a little macro button to open a csv file and you simply navigate to where you file is.  I did something along these lines for some graphs, and sorting of data for some experimental data in csb format of variable length.
