HP 4050 showing error

0079 OOFE is the error code that I have been seeing on my HP printer. i t does not let me do anything else. I can not print . Pressing buttons don;t make anysense, I mean the message from the printer screen soes not go away.

I did google it and I fount htis link :http://www.mj-printers.com/repair/hpcodes.html

But that does nto tell me much about it.

Should i call HP or theree is something that I can do by myself?

If you get this trying to print from Acrobat then try using PCL6 instead of PostScript  OR in Acrobat print options with Postscript select "PostScript Level 1"

Otherwise if it's under warranty get HP to look at it.

If not under warranty consider upgrading the firmware in the JetDirect card (if networked) and/or then on the printer itself.

I think it has nothing to do with the kind of paper it is trying to print. As I said irrespective of anything, it is showinga constant message on its own screen which is this error message.
This message is slways on does not matter wheter i am trying to print anything from it or not.

If you ignore the first 2 0's you can see 79, and the error code for that is "SERVICE". It suggests you do these two steps;

1. This problem can be caused by software/drivers, memory PCA's, font macro personality cartridges, or optional I/O cards.
2. Replace formatter PCA.

Well thank you very much it was all comprehensively helpful information. By the way I tried trouble shooting the way it is stated in the snapshot posted by MasQUDAR, but still error was not moving. So I have called HP to take a look on that. Let's see what happens.
