Java Web Start

Is there anyway to disable the following locally?
Every time you start the web application, the Java WebStart software component checks the application's website to see if a new version is available, and if so, automatically downloads and launches it.

I didn't have the full URL.  I did go through the full login process and found the path. Now I'm getting error message "System is offline and the application does not specify <offline-allowed/> when try to launch from CMD line.  javaws -offline "http://spectrum.sample.net/spectrum/oneclick.jnlp"

from the CMD line I run javaws -offline "http://spectrum.sample.net/spectrum" and I get the prompted for a login.  click OK and get error that" MissingFieldException[ The following required field is missing from the launch file: <jnlp>]"  How can I find the exact path to JNLP?
