It's normally down to some error in a web part, or possibly some conflict between multiple web parts. First thing to do is go to the web part maintenance page, do this by adding "?contents=1" to your url, i.e. if your url is http://sharepoint/site/page.aspx go to http://sharepoint/site/page.aspx?contents=1. This will show all web parts on the page and if there are any that are closed or not in use you can delete them completely from the page to prevent possible conflicts.

Also if the web part that is triggering the error is a content editor web part, look in it's source and see if there's anything there, possibly some invalid javascript code. Or could your web part be using some custom XSL?

If you use the web part maintenance page like above (by adding ?contents=1 to the end of the url) it will give you a list of all of the web parts on the page, you can then tick your Content Editor web part and choose to delete it.
