Looks like using x over ssh to remote into a full desktop like gnome is not a good idea over the internet because it is too slow.

Is there a better open to log into a full desktop over the internet?  Needs to be fast and low bandwidth.

if your home pc is logged as desktop mood then i think vnc is good, it can work with low bandwidth
