I use 2 major methods to access my family's pc's from the iPhone when necessary:

1. LogMeIn Ignition (load the LogMeIn free client on the PC). $29.95 for the iPhone app. Well worth the bucks. Added bonus is you can also get to the client PC from any web  browser.

2. Wyse Pocket PC. Also requires a client piece on the PC which is free. $29.99 for the iPhone app. Wyse is highly optimized for the iPhone experience and I love it.

Why do I have both? (I actually use RDP/Citrix and a few others too). Don't put all your eggs in one basket! I once demoed LogMeIn to a co-worker from the PC and it bombed miserably because of how her desktop was setup.

Hi,
As montyg said above , just use logmein Ignition, free on the pc and you pay for the app on itunes, it works really well.
