Windows shadow copy service

environment: Windows server 2003 with latest updates

Can I depend on Windows shadow copy service as backup solution??
I'm taking weekly backups however thought our the week some changes might happen to users shares.

I have enabled windows shadow copy service to take a snapshot everyday @ 12PM

Is this a reliable solution? dose anybody know if there are any known issues shadow copy??

Thank you

Using snapshots, VSS or otherwise, for backups is a REALLY bad idea. While it provides you with the option of restoring a modified or corrupted file to a previous state, all of the snapshot backups still reside on the same physical hardware. If the drive itself dies, filesystem gets corrupted, or whatever, you still lose everything.  Always have backups to another device, be it an offline disk, tape, etc.
