create a public string in a module and save the username to that module and then you reference it the same as any other without having to do dim sqlstr as string first.

Either that or when you open the form pass the txtusername.value to the new form with a similar name that is hidden from users so you can reference it whenever you want.

so on the openform of the next form do a me.txtusername.value = forms!loginform!txtusername.value

Thanks for the help. Since I am new to Access, can you please provide a sample?
