Can I install a different, lighter-weight browser on a Motorola MC70?

I'm installing 10 new Motorola MC70 Scan guns in the company warehouse. I've designed the inventory management software to run as a web application, but the pages (though tiny) are running slow on the scan guns. The IE browser will say "Locating" and then "Loading", and then it will finally render the page.

I'm looking for some ways to speed that up, since our warehouse staff are rewarded based upon their speed. I'd like to try installing a different browser on the scan guns, but haven't figured out a way to do that. I tried to install Opera Mini, but since it's not an officially sanctioned motorola software, it won't run through the installation program. Mobile devices aren't something I'm an expert in. Does anyone know how I could either a) try out some other, lighter-weight browsers on my scan guns, or b) speed up clunky old IE?

Thanks!

BTW, I'm running Windows Mobile 5.0. After some research, it appears that I can upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 for a price. If that would speed up the guns, I'm willing to duke it out with purchasing.

I was afraid of that.

If anything windows 6.1 would slow the guns down. The problem lies within the slow processor in the gun and limited RAM. You can upgrade, but you will have same speeds if not slower overall

Darn. One thing that Windows Mobile 6.1 appears to have that Windows Mobile 5 doesn't is the ability to set the focus in a form field using Javascript. My users are going crazy because they can't just walk, scan, walk, scan. They have to set the field focus with their fingers every time. Though one gun does take the field focus, and it was the one I dabbled with the Datawedge settings more. Speed is my goal.
