how do i lock a record in data block

hi experts..
                     i m new to oracle form builder.. can anybody help me i locking records in a data block in oracle forms..

in my case there is a detail block i want to lock some records under some conditions.. means user will not be able to update those particular records or u can say rows in detail block..

lock_record will help me??

    Where I understand you want to lock complete row in grid.

    Please try this solution it will work for your requirements and run this statement in a loop

    "set_item_INSTANCE_property('item_id',CURRENT_RECORD, UPDATE_ALLOWED, property_false);"
