how to broadcast audio on intranet

I am trying to broadcast audio preferably from iTunes to my intranet. I want to play music in one room and have it play all over the house which is dual cat5 cabled and building a mini itx pc for each room is no problem though this might mean that the solution would have to run on linux. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how do I do it.
If it can't be done from iTunes are there any alternatives, I have even been looking at hardware for av transmission over cat5. Any help would be appreciated.

You have many choices. e.g.

I use AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n and AirTunes at home. It is a WiFi AP, connect my USB printer to the network as well as audio output which can be selected from iTune.

While do not have any myself, there should be other speakers that support AirTunes.

I would install Soundflower Audio Driver and ESD on the Mac, and use pulseaudio on the Linux boxen as client. Pulseaudio is the default on most recent Linux Distributions. Unfortunately the Mac Port isn't done yet, but pulsaudio can connect to ESD, so that's why ESD on the Mac.

Soundflower:

For ESD you'll need macports:

Get free NFR key for Veeam Availability Suite 9.5

Veeam is happy to provide a free NFR license (1 year, 2 sockets) to all certified IT Pros. The license allows for the non-production use of Veeam Availability Suite v9.5 in your home lab, without any feature limitations. It works for both VMware and Hyper-V environments

Using iTune alone, it can only support a single destination.

I haven't tried it myself, but you can check this out:

Good luck.
