Canon A480 to take pictures of Christmas lights

Hi, I've got a Canon A480 digital point and shoot, which I'm quite happy with. I want to go around the neighborhood at night and take some pictures of the Christmas light displays, but I don't think any of the supplied settings (night snapshot, indoor, fireworks...) will work. The nightime setting is meant to be used against night lights with a  person in the foreground.

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks. I do have a manual, but I'm not sure what settings to use.

set it to manual, turn off the flash (pg13) and make some test images.
if not ok, choose a higher/lower iso setting  (lower means longer exposition time, so you need to hold it stable, on tripod)
