looks fine, but if you want a cheap cisco switch why not try a 3550 refurbished. there are soem good compinies that sell second ahnd CISCO gear and do so very cheaply

The cheapest ones are the "Linksys" branded "Cisco" switches.  Are you looking for a switch to use in an active network or for educational/testing usage?

If you don't need VLAN routing, you can get by with a 3548XL / 2948XL.

I still suggest that if you are realy conserned about price then a refurbished switch could save you a lot, and get you a much better model for the same money.

thanks for advice guys,
It has to be a cisco (not linksys) it has to be brand new , has to be 48 ports (client request).

No Vlan required.

How about the ESW 500 series (e.g., ESW-520-48-K9)? Or a 3550 new? 2960s work great, but more expensive.
