SharePoint WSS Document Library containing PDF files, changes aren't saving

I have a Document Library containing PDF files. I open the PDF and make text edits, add notes, stamps and make other text tool changes, then I choose File, Save to save my changes, then I close the document. Unfortunately, when I open the document back up, my changes aren't there.
I'm hoping to be able to use this document library to allow my users to markup these PDF document, but if the changes won't save, this project won't work.

tsorry that add on is expensive. it looks like the way to go i to try to open with explorer view and do it that way. the other thing is ensure there are no required column or feilds that arent being populated
