when i open the active directory the server freezes for a few seconds. i notiiced that if i open the AD from MMC this does not happen.
in the last few weekd whenever i open a file the server also freezes. i tried creating a smaill txt file without content and open it, and the problem occured.
also installed nod folowing the instructentions.

the server has 3gb of ram + 2 prossecors of 2ghz.

did you try loading other vm servers? or loading this server on different esx?
also, verify dns is correct, sound like you have problem with access to AD

I'm not sure if you have 3GB on the host or the VM.  What are the are the total resources of the vm and host?

What type of hardare are you running?  Ensure that you have vmware tools running and up to date.
If you are running ESXi, your best bet is to have same memory size dimm in a pair. If not, it will impact your VMs performance. Looks like you may have 2X 512MB dimms  and 2X1GB dim configuration. I suggest to throw away 2X512MB dimms and replace with 2X1GB. If not, let it run with 2GB.
