Can my laptop read CF cards?

Hello,

Not sure if CF is a different type like SD, SDHC and xD. I was wondering if my laptop, a Dell XPS1730 with a 8 in 1 card reader will be able to read this memory card i am thinking of getting.

4gb Sandisk Extreme IV Compact Flash

Listed on the side of the laptop is "SD/MMC - MS/Pro - xD".

I have successully used SDHC and xD cards in it.

thank you

No, it's built-in card reader won't read compact flash cards, but you could always get a USB adapter for it that would.

What it will read is:

" Secure Digital (SD)
" SDIO
" MultiMediaCard (MMC)
" Memory Stick
" Memory Stick PRO
" xD-Picture Card
" Hi Speed-SD
" Hi Density-SD

These are all a different size/shape from CF cards.

ok...yes, Compact Flash is different. I looked up 8 in 1 reader for your laptop, and CompactFlash isn't supported. sorry!! (if CompactFlash was supported, you would have read a "CF" about the memory slots)

Hope that helps!!
