Migrating from BE 12 on server 2003 32bit to 12.5 on server 2008 64bit

Hi All,
Can anyone help me out on how to copy a backup exec database from one CAS server to a new one i have built so i can decommission the old one? details below

server1:
Backup Exec 12
Windows Server 2003 32bit
SQL Express 2005

server2:
Backup Exec 12.5
Windows Server 2008 64bit
SQL Express 2005

I have done some research and found articles on how to move/migrate the database from one server to another but nothing when it comes to copying the database from one CAS server to another CAS that has a different name, different OS and different Backup exec version. Is it even possible to do this?
Ideally i wanted to copy all the jobs, catalogs and settings over to server2 and then gradually enable the jobs on the server2 as i disable them on server1 and deploy the new agents.
Backups are all currently running to a Backup to Disk folder, i have found another problem in that if i try to add the backup to disk folder on server2  it does not recognise it since it was created with backup exec 12 on server1, Im not sure if re-creating it on server2 will break it on server1.

Is there an upgrade path / method to do what I need? Or am I going to have to recreate all the jobs. settings etc etc on the new 12.5 server? The environment is a large enterprise so recreating all the jobs will take days at the least.

thanks in advance.

Do not migrate the BE DB with so much difference between the 2 servers.
Its not supported .

You have everything that Symantec recommends against for a migration

so i basically have to recreate everything from scratch on the new server then? thanks for the verification
