Table is malformed in Lotus Notes

I have a problem with some documents within one of my Lotus Notes databases.
When certain documents are clicked on, we get the error "Table is malformed".
The issue is with a particular Rich Text field within the form .If I remove this field then I can open the documents, but obviously I have lost important information.
It is only happening on certain documents  not all of them.
I have tried :
creating a new replica of the DB
Fixup and compact
Creaing a new field that references the problem field.

Any ideas ?
Many thanks

I received this error message in an application that has a rich text field.  I was unable to open the document in my 8.5.2 client; however, I was able to open the document in my 8.0.2 client.  After I resaved the doc in 8.0.2, it was accessible by all.
