This should be very simple. What is the difference between closing an alert in SCOM vs. setting the alert to 'resolved'. Both appear to close the alert. Can someone explain to me in detail the difference?

Hello tobyhansen,
There is no difference in close alert or change resolution state that I'm aware of.
If you make a custom alert view in my workspace (create alert view for specific time (last 4 hours) with resolution state closed(255)) you will see both alerts if their closed by change resolution state and close alert.
Regards,
Walter

Thank you. I thought so, but never really found a definitive answer in my readings. Thanks again.
