Acrobat 8 floating 'text box'

When I start acrobat 8 pro with a 'blank page', (xp pro sp3) then paste in some images, what looks like a 'text box' about 80% of the page size pops up everytime I try to select one of the images I have pasted, and floats over the images preventing me from selecting the images. How can I disable the page size 'text box', that automatically come up?

You cant - it's an object that is on the page.

What tool are you using to select your images? Try the TouchUp object tool.

You could try to select that "text box" and hit the delete key to remove it from the document. Does that remove anything else (e.g. any of the images you want to select)?

By Jove, you've GOT it. Works like a charm. The auto floating 'text box' is kind of a dumb a____ feature, if you ask me.
   Thanks for your time khkremer
