all i know at this point is the information is housed in a fire bird DB. does anyone know of a client like MS SQL management studio i can use to connect to the firebird DB and ten brows the tables and records?

or list a series of steps i need to follow to get this  done.

i found the .fdb file on the C drive and need to know how to play with it now.

Yes there are several tools as found here:

I use IBExpert the free version...

hmmm try to get the exact error message, but that's strange, if you have the username and password for the database that's all you need

The two programs that I've used are FlameRobin and IBAccess.  I've sometimes had problems getting FlameRobin to work correctly but when I got it to work, it worked well with the one exception of that it always complains about not finding an error message file, instead of giving error messages.  It uses the mouse for most things and you can accomplish quite a lot with just a few clicks.  IBAccess's user interface is unpolished but other than that it is very powerful.

I'm guessing you just don't have the right password.  If you're lucky and they didn't care about security you could try the default user/password sysdba/masterkey.

If you are getting SQLCODE = -902, then it is username and password, there are ways to bypass Firebird security and they are aware of it. But, first try SYSDBA and masterkey.
