iis7 vista The Requested Resource is in Use IsapiModule HTTP 500 error

A few months ago my sites were working on my local machine. I added a site today and tried running it - .html works fine, but .asp causes a HTTP 500 error.
The error I get is:
HTTP-error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
Module: IsapiModule
Handler: ASPClassic

I've traced the error and the following 'IIS Diagnostics Output':
ModuleName="IsapiModule", Notification="EXECUTE_REQUEST_HANDLER", HttpStatus="500", HttpReason="Internal Server Error", HttpSubStatus="0", ErrorCode="The Requested Resource is in Use. (0x800700aa)", ConfigExceptionInfo=""

Can anyone tell me how to get this working!?!?

I've tried:
In IIS Manager choose View Application Pools
then choose Set Application Pool Defaults.
Then under Process Model set Identity to LocalSystem

didn't help. - any ideas?

    where can I see that?

    Accepted Solution

it just started working again today, I don't know how often I restarted my PC. Other than that I made no changes! - very strange ... somehow I have a feeling that I'll be opening this question again.

I am having the same issue. Restarts haven't resolved my issue. Please help.

    ModuleName IsapiModule
    Notification 128
    HttpStatus 500
    HttpReason Internal Server Error
    HttpSubStatus 0
    ErrorCode 2147942570
ErrorCode The requested resource is in use. (0x800700aa)

Simply put, for my application if i put a test.asp in the root dir it errors. ASPX works fine. I am running iis7 on windows server 2008. have tried playing with the application pool identities with no success. I have another application pool running on same server that asp pages are working. I tried moving the application to that pool but still didn't work. I compared the web.config files and there is nothing that really jumps out.

    This is not a solution!
With failed request tracing rules appear:
