Backup Exec Restore B2D toggles Loading Media and Queued

I am desperatley trying to pull up a corrupt file.  I am able to Inventory the particualr backup file.  I know which .bak file needs to be access and checked that this machine has Admin rights.

When I try to catalogue media or restore the file, the status toggles between "Queued" and "Loading Media" and can do this for days.

I desperatley need to preserve my job in the next hour here.

When I cancle the job, the log shows error; "unable to acquire device for the specified pool and media"
Is the B2D drive working properly?  I had an issue with a power supply where it would sometimes see the drive and othertimes it wouldn't....it was really weird and I've never seen it again.

If you know the file, and can move it to another drive (either another server or desktop share), could you move it, and try to inventory/catalog it from there?  That would remove the external drive/NAS/whatever it is out of the troubleshooting mix.

If it is accessible via shares and explorer, and it can be moved, I'd copy it somewhere else and try to use it from the other location   - it would tell us the B2D device is ok and it would also point to an issue with the bak file itself.
Which version and service pack is BE? I remember their were such flaws with 12 and 12.5.
