Web-Based Database Application Development Tools

Hi Experts,

I am new to ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL Server and i have to develop an online web application for our 25 Depots across the country. App will be basically Inventory cum Invoicing Software with some MIS reports. I want to use any easy/free tools which can make my life easy.
I have downloaded Iron Speed Designer which looks good but its not free.
Please advise any free/open source  tool which i can use.

@ abelallen:
First of all i would like to thank you for your support, but i would like to inform you that Zoho Creator deals with PHP/MYSQL and your above link is for DB3NF which is for old ASP not for ASPX.
I am interested in code generator for ASPX Code behind VB and Database as SQLServer or MySQL Server. If any body is using such tool please advise. I am new to this Web Application,  but i have experience in windows desktop application in VB6/VB.Net .

Thanks

NFR key for Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365

Veeam is happy to provide a free NFR license (for 1 year, up to 10 users). This license allows for the non‑production use of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 in your home lab without any feature limitations.

Why not just use Visual Web Developer Express? http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/default.aspx

That i know, but visual web expree or visual studio do not generate code automatically as other tools available like iron speed designeor etc. I am looking for any opensource free toll which provide me code in ASP.Net VB, SQL Server databse.

BMKESHAV,
I can provide you a means to evaluate the various results to figure out which is the "Best" option for you but it will require some work on your part, starting with identifying the tools that do some or all of what you want (although, the likelihood of finding one that does all you want is not that terribly high ;-)..
So far you have the following criteria:
  1. Free
  2. Easy
  3. Addresses SQL Server
  4. Automatically generates Code.
You have eliminated the two links/free options initially suggest because of Requirement 3.  You have ellimnated the MS Visual Web Developer Express solution based upon Requirement 4 (and, possibly Requirement 2).
Have you thought about the fact that you may have to enter into a trade-off between Requirements 1 and 4?  Freeware and/or open source tends to either not meet Requirement 4 or not meet requirement 3.  Purchased products, while not meeting Requirement 1 have a much higher likelihood of meeting Requirements 3 and 4.

Both the free tools are for different technology. I am interested in ASP.Net Ajax Web Application Using Sql Server as Database.

Any Body using such tools or having any sample APPs, please provide me, b/c I am new in this Web APP, I have experience in VB6/Access , Foxpro etc. for Windows applicaiton development.

Thanks,

In that case, you may want to look at the Visual Studio Express Web Development tool along with SQL Server 2008 Express.  I realize that the VSWD tool doesn't meet all of your criteria(specifically it doesn't meet the "Automatically generates Code" one) but, as I have tried to hint, you may not be able to get everything you want. ;-)

I have not seen Iron Speed Designer.  That is partially because I am not actually a web developer. ;-)  My thing is really databases or desktop apps (I write a lot of handy-dandy tools for doing things with data.)  So, I am not familiar with the aspects of Iron Speed Desginer that you like.
However, that begs the point I made which is, you simply may not be able to find an equivalent free tool.  THere is a reason that Iron Speed Designer is not free . . . it is called Capitalism or The Desire To Profit From One's Labor.  This may seem like "cruel and unusual punishment" but stop and think about it.  If you had created a tool of that nature, would you really give it away for free (and be honest ;-).
As for the reverse engineering of that app . . . well, if it is not obfuscated, you may be able to decompile it using what I think is called reflection.  However, you might also want to reflect on the fact that doing so and then modifying the code is probably a violation of copyright law (with a potential punishment of $250,000 in fines and 5 years imprisonment).  You may disagree with the whole concept of copyright laws but they are still the enforceable law of the land.  Also, if the product is not in the public domain, you might want to consider the personal ethics involved in, in effect, stealing someone else's work.  (Using someone else's work without obtaining their permission is, in point of fact, stealing. ;-)
Perhaps, if you contact the author of that application, you might be able to obtain the source code. ;-)  If you hesitate to contact the author because you figure that the author won't send you the code, then you might want to consider the ethics involved in decompiling it and using it anyway.
