Outlook 2007 won't open Word 2003 documents

Hello,

I have a Vista Home Premium machine running Office 2007.  When someone sends me a Word 2003 document and I try to open it from the email message, Word opens but the displayed pane or view stays solid blue, and the document doesn't open.  I can close out of Word (no errors are returned), save the attachment to the desktop, and then open it with Word 2007 successfully.

No errors are recorded in the event logs.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Jackieman,

No problems with other attachments (word 2007, pdf, jpg, etc).  This machine was recently formatted/reloaded, and has had the problem since the home/student Office version was uninstalled and the Standard Version was installed over it.

Bransby... what is the normal.dot file?  It can be deleted safely?

RGEIS2000... I do have the media and can do a repair, so that will be my next try.

Thanks to both!

Actually, I think I just solved it... The small business connectivity components were still installed (maybe they are part of the home and student version of Office?).

I uninstalled them, and it seems to be working...

I will split the points with all of you.

Thanks!
