problem with HP multifunction and Norton Password Manager

i have a wireless notebook and wireless HP Photosmart 7280.  I installed the printer and got messages that "Symantec/Norton products may cause problems" I removed "Symantec Antivirus" to find the message still appearing.  So i installed anyway....  the install completed and printing works good.  Scanning on the other hand seem to halt the computer and crash the "hp imaging monitor".  Looking in the services i found a "symantec" service still remaining.  After disabling and stopping this service the scanning works great.  I then discovered that the "symantec" service was for "Norton Password Manager".  has anyone else encountered this?, and is there a way to have both "HP imaging" and "Norton Password Manager" working together?
