The user had an old blackberry that had the japanese language support, but lost the phone and replaced it with the blackberry 9700 BOLD.
we tried installing the language support for japanese under the application loader but it doens't transfer successfully.  we've tried putting itallian and it imports successfully, but the japanese language doesnt. no error messages either. After the transfer, once i go into the blackberry's setup (on the phone) under the Language support section, I see itallian, english, but no japanese.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check with the vendor, and get the software from them and install it again. Take a backup of the device, wipe out the device, then install the complete OS along with the language you need.
