Using IMAP in offline mode of Outlook 2007 or 2003

I'm new to IMAP. I'm using Outlook 2003 and I notice by default only the headers are downloaded. The rest of the message is downloaded when you click on the email. I am wondering if you can change this setting to download the full email all the time. The reason I ask is because I can see myself at times being offline and wanting to read or reply to emails, and unless I've already downloaded them, it's not possible.

The other thing I'm wondering is will my account always be visible while I"m offline? I know no new stuff will be, but will the previously downloaded emaiils and the headers of those not downloaded be available. I can't figure out where this stuff is stored, it's like it's cached somewhere.

    Accepted Solution

Here are the instructions for how to download full messages instead of just the headers:

As far as being able to see what is in your account while offline....I'm not entirely sure about this (as I use a POP account and not an IMAP), but I don't see why not. If I were to set Outlook to work offline, I would not be able to send or receive anything, but I would still be able to open Outlook and view what I already have. I would think the same rules would apply with an IMAP account.
