    my database diagram has no lines and the databases are vertically one after the other

    the link you provided had a picture,VS.90).gif

    could my database diagram look organized like automatically

    would i have to draw the lines between tables

    if the foreign key relations defined between your tables then they should be automatically add the diagram as arrows between the tables.
    You can do an auto arrange by choosing the "Database Diagram->Auto Arrange" menu. You should keep in mind that the relations that you define at the diagram are also defined at the database as relations between tables.

    i see database diagram-> arrange tables
    which puts all the tables on a vertical line

    i cant find auto arrange
