RAID problem

I am trying to help my parents with there PC.  Apparently it shutdown with an error saying "WE have shutdown your computer to prevent damage to your hard drive"  Not the exact translation of course.

The machine fails at the boot saying SATA drive 0 and 1 not found.  Yet the Raid controller sees the array. If I go into the Bios to change the boot sequence it DOES NOT see the array.  The Hard Disk show up Unkown in the BIOS as well.

I have run out of ideas.

Here are the PC Basics

Dell 8300
with a Fast Trak S150 TX2
Phoenix Bios version 1.10 A07

Any Help is welcome!

This raid setup is a Promise addon card. Disaster waiting to happen, well no, actually it may have already happened. The array will not be seen in the bios, as the array is not controlled by the bios (which is a big mistake). You will need to provide the driver on a floppy disk to get anything to see the drives. The error - Your computer has been shut down etc is a windows error. This usually is the result of a driver error or possibly bad ram. For a start, download memtest86 from www.memtes86.com and give this a run to ensure the ram is OK. Then we will look further. Is the raid a mirror or a stripe? Take time, proceed with caution or you will destroy the data on the drives.

If you want to run chkdsk or a repair off the Windows cd, you need to create a sata driver floppy. This should have come with the card, or download the appropriate drivers from the manufacturers site. Boot to the Windows CD and hit F6 when prompted to load the drivers from the floppy. The floppy itself is not bootable.
