Philips / Sigmatel SMV File Type & DRM
Does anyone know of a program that will convert a DRM protected WMV to SMV. 20th Century Fox now include digital copies of films on their DVDs - however they only suppy iPod compatible MP4 or WMV format & I have a Philips GoGear Vibe that uses the SMV video format. The utility that Philps supply to convert WMV to SMV does not support DRM encoded files. Short of putting a request into Phillps to correct this oversight can anyone suggest a program that will enable this conversion before my son goes mad? (Yes I do have the DRM code and I own the digital and DVD copies).
Thanks
Thanks

Hi Merete. Thanks - I've already tried SMV Converter but it either wont recognise the DRM encrytion used or ask for the DRM key. I'll try your second suggestion 'Super' but note that the Eright SUPER site was flagged as dropping an trojan infected cookie - trapped by Frisk AV.
Is this an issue with the SMV format not supporting DRM or is it simply a case that the Sigmatel chipset used by Philips (and others) is simply not (yet) seen as worth creating an 'on-disc' digital image for by the film companies?
I personally think that DRM is a good idea - after all Apple have sold about 250,000,000 ipods but Philips isn't exactly an unknown electronics company and if I'm buying genuine & legitimate digital movies it's not to unreasonable to want to be able to play the thing ! (Rant over !)

Hi Merete
*Might* be my AV (F-Prot) giving a false positive as it's flagging a trojan for your links posted as well ( W32/SuspPack.N.gen!Eldorad o). I'll download and scan with a different AV (or two !). Thanks for this.
I'll also email Arcsoft in the new year (they write the software that Philps supply) and see if they can shed any further light on the issue.

Even though I've had my version Super for over 6 months, I recently started seeing this message from my AVG when running Super.. AVG will state an aspect of my Super has some type of malware but when I looked it was part of the codecs ffdshow
I simply deleted the temp folder contents and then added the Super video codecs to the excemptions.
Don't understand why all of sudden it starts doing that either as i know the installer is malware free.
I think it has to do with the windows firewall and Super is a .exe

Hi Merete
If only !
SMV is the format that will work in this instance and Arcsoft supply the neccessary conversion software. I'll try them again.

Hi Pete
Apologies I missed the update in this one. I'll have a look at the Cucusoft trial and see if that can do this.
