Extending a dynamic disk which was originally a basic disk

I recently run out of space on the C drive of the Windows 2003 server and tried to extend it using DISKPART, it wouldn't allow me to extend C , so I changed it to Dynamic disk, rebooted and tried again. This time diskpart didn't allow me to extend as the dynamic disk was originally a basic disk. IS there a way to remedy this problem, or do I have to wipe the C drive clean and start again?

If C: is your boot partition then you will not be able to extend it through Windows 2003. You can use tools like server magic or Ghost new editions.
