Change color from white to blue in jpeg

Hi,

I have a jpeg image with a white background. How can I change the background to blue?

I tried to use magic wand but it kept selecting parts of the white area, even with different tolerances, probably due to the gradients in the image. Lasso could work too, but it seems like there would be a lot of artifacts.

There's a few ways:
use the blend if

problem with that is it might be tricky on the gradients and you'll have to split the slider possibly.

You can apply a layer mask, that means you can paint back in the stuff that gets erased within the image on your mask.

Without seeing the image, it's hard to offer the best advice on a workflow.

Perfect! Thanks for the link - visual tutorials are so much easier to follow (it seems as though all text tutorials leave out important points for beginners)
