VMware ESX 4.0, md3000i and qlogic 4062c configuration issue and quesitons

I have a Dell md3000i with 1 disk group and 3 LUNs set up.  VMware ESX 4.0 servers (3) and each has 1 qlogic qle4062c cards in them.  everything is split up between two switches.  everything **seems** ok except the md3000i complains that the storage array needs attention.  Looking into it further it tells me that "the virtual disk is not on the preferred path".  Essentially the second LUN wants to be assigned to the second controller but it cannot be.  I have gone through the "guru" help, and even called Dell.  No luck, I sent my support info but no call from Dell in almost a week.

My question is, can this combination do multi-pathing using hardware intitiators like the qlogic and if so can you point me to a white paper or something that describes how it is configured.

This has been determined to be a hardware issue and a firmware update is expected by the end of 1Q 2010.
