Act 2009 Multi user slow to open

After we moved Act 2009  from a Windows 2003 Server to a brand new server with Windows 2008 32 Bit we noticed that wen trying to open te Act database it hangs about 30 seconds before getting to the login screen we never experienced this with the other server. any help would greatly be appreciated. However afte you get logged into ACT everything is speedy and fine.

You do know that ACT! 2009 didn't officially support Windows 2008? This was only added in ACT! 2010.

However:

You do know that ACT! 2009 didn't officially support Windows 2008? This was only added in ACT! 2010.--Right on the box Act says it supports Server 2008

However:

"Have you applied the latest service pack (11.1) and hotfix (HF 3) to ACT!?
http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=25310--Applied

"Does this delay happen on the server or on the workstations?--Jus the workstations the server is fine.
"Are you running any ACT! plugins or add-ons? No add ons or plugins

You might also try this fix http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=22867
The above fix is for server 2008 and ISA server. We do not use ISA.

Thank you for your help!

You're right about ACT! 2009 and Windows 2008... slip of the memory.

Have you installed Hotfix 3 on all systems? You can check in Help | About

Can you check that SQL is set to automatic and that it's not being virus scanned as per
http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23934

Is it slow every time you start ACT! (eg start ACT!, close it and restart it) - or is it just after a reboot?

his issue ended up being a firewallissue with the server. We has Ports 1433 TCP and 1434 UDP and we had ACT in the exception list. However what fixed the issue was adding SQL and SQLbrowser to the exception list in the firewall and now access is as quick as it can be.
