I am trying to check my QoS by seeing all the traffic and checking out the precedence settings. I am running Wireshark but as i start to dig in to all the information i don't see a precedence? Is there a short name or anything? I must be missing something? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Under the ip header, have a look at the differentiated services field.

I was just testing wireshark on my laptop. I have to plug it in to or router at a later date to check the QoS. So i was just trying to get a feel for it before i went and did it. I think i am looking at both inbond and outbound.

We think that we have other traffic in or video que. So i wanted to find away to see all the traffic precedence bits and see whats going on. If you know of any other way?

You can do this sort of thing with netflow, if your router supports it. But you'll have to buy a netflow collector.

There's no problem with the way your doing it with wireshark.

You'll need to span the switch port that the router connected to so that the traffic gets mirrored to your wireshark PC.

use the following display filter in wireshark to filter on the dscp value of your video traffic.

ip.dsfield.dscp == 0x00 (replace 00 with dscp value your looking for)
