How can I restore my Outlook Express email from a backup of my files on Mac?

I have a backup of my files from the boot drive of my eMac.  I've had to reinstall the OS (10.2.4 with 9) and I'd like to restore my emails into Outlook Express 5.02.  I've copied the Microsoft System Data folder back into my user folder, but that didn't help.  Importing didn't let me choose a file to import from.  As I understand it, all the emails are stored in a single file, which is in the System Data folder, but my new installation can't see them.

Help!  Any suggestions and ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Try using any backup utility to restore your emails.

Wouldn't the backup utility need to have access to an actual backup?  I have a backup of the original files via file copy, can you be more specific?

    Accepted Solution

Well, I figured this out myself.  The user data is stored in the users home folder, in the Microsoft User Data folder.  Searching for Microsoft User Data will find it, and then you can copy that over.
