Adding a Windows Server 2008 to an existing Server 2003 forrest

I have a customer who's very old Server 2003 box has a full hard drive.  We purchased a new server 2008 unit, and I want to add the 2008 box as a secondary domain controller, move all the data onto the new server and then promote it to primary domain controller, demote the old server and remove the old server from service.  Can this be done with 2008 <-> 2003?  I have done this once, years ago with two 2003 servers, but I am not up to snuff on the procedure.  I have briefly looked through the TechNet for procedures but haven't found anything yet.  Is there anything to be careful of?  Both servers will run AD and DNS.
