i just downloaded windows 7//   i have a hp d7560 photosmart printer which i  have the driver for it that is compatible with windows 7//   when i run the alignment through hp solution center, it says "alignment failed"//  i have tried it 6-8 times with same result//  i think all else is working//  i am running alignment b/c some colors are weird//   i just bought a new black ink cartridge which was low on ink, thinking that was the problem

How are you doing?

First, you probably have a dirty print head:

If that does not work, try replacing the other cartridges as well, as one of them could be bad. There are contacts in the front of the cartridge that allows the printer head to control the flow of ink, if these get corroded or the internal ink dries out, the prints will not be correct, thus failing the "alignment test".

Hope this helps,

Hi there;
Since you checked this:

do the followings:
Remove all the cartridges from the machine
Then clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the printer
Turn off the printer and unplug it for 5 minutes
Plug it back in and turn it on
Wait for the insert cartridges error and reinsert the cartridges into the machine

or if it fails:

There are maintainance options in the MENU on the product, press the SETUP button, scroll to tools, and in here you have, check ink levels, could you check the ink levels are good, also clean the printhead,

Test printer now please, if the same carry on below please, thanks

Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.

Remove the cartridges from the product.
Wait for the ' Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
Wait 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button .
Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

Best regards.
