anyone know of a really good free client server backup system?

I have a number of remote sites connected by slow T1's and currently have the DC's (also file/app servers) at each site doing their own NT backups to Terrabyte USB drives which is clumsy at best. I have no budget for more Symantec BUE licenses and yet need to have management and visiblity adn even alerts against failed backup. Does anyone know of a really good product for this. Thanks much.

http://www.bacula.org/en/ is usable. There are a few others that are equally usable (google open source + backup + enterprise) but i'm yet to find a 'free' backup system that has anywhere near the features of a symantec system with the same level of usability.

If it's got to be free then I'd look into solutions that are built around Rsync (for Windows) like:
DeltaCopy: http://www.pcinspector.de/Default.htm?language=1
or NasBackup: http://www.nasbackup.com/wiki/Introduction

But I doubt they will be able to adequatly replace Symantec.
