Software pricing can be difficult.  I am not an expert in this area but have a few thoughts to share.

Part of the pricing strategy probably needs to consider competitive products and where they are priced.  Pricing equal or slightly below existing products could help sales.

In addition you have to decide on volume versus price.  At $1000 you might only sell 10 copies, but at $10 you might sell 2000 copies and come out ahead.

Typically the actual software purchase price is only part of the equation.  Other ways to increase revenue that should be considered include maintenance, training, consulting, etc.

Another option would be to talk to some people or groups and get a sense of what they would be willing to pay for such a product.

Are looking for a sample of a BOM that describes the components that go into building a software application, or are you looking for a software application to generate a BOM for some non-software product?

I'm looking the the former: "the components that go into building a software application". Thanks for your reply.

I'm interpreting this to mean the things that are the building blocks of creating a software application.  As such, I don't think I've ever seen that presented as a BOM metaphor.  More often models like SDLC (software development lif cycle) or a WBS (work breakdown structure) are used.  Not sure if you can harvest some info from these links.  Feel free to bounce more questions off me...

Thanks so much. I was asked to determine the cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) for software that I developed. In other words, how much am I going to sell it for? I know about how to determine how much it costs to create it (the data you provided) but I have know idea how to determine how much to sell it for - or justify the selling price.
