Check IP Address - Proxy Server?

Is there a way to check if an IP address is a known proxy server without the port number?

By known do you mean public proxy? Or are you after the proxy software?

Im trying to establish if an IP comes back to a proxy server, public or otherwise. There are apps that hide the real IP address, Im trying confirm or deny that is the case. There are sites that check IPs for this but it has to be in IP:port format.

You may get a bit of luck with Reverse Lookups on the IP address, but I suspect it won't be conclusive in a lot of cases.

You won't be able to find the proxy port without being familiar with the proxy itself. You could guess at 8080, but it would only be a guess.

Doesn't get you all that far I'm afraid. I can't see much of a way to find that information out. You may try finding some server side code to run on your web server(s) to detect a proxy.
