Autodiscover service

Autodiscover seems to be working, but for some clients they cannot access the out of office assistant.  The Offline address book and other features work for the outlook anywhere.  Does anyone know what would cause this issue?  Would it be the fact they are not on the domain or an OS version?

The problem is usually caused by one of the following reasons:

Reason 1: Wrong Autodiscover Service settings
Reason 2: Wrong certificate
Reason 3: Wrong permission settings on the EWS virtual directory.
Reason 4: Logged on with another user account (user logged into pc with a different domain than email account ie logged into to PC as MICHAEL\Rich and logged into email server as Richard\Mike)

See the link below for detailed screen prints and documentation that will resolve your issue.

Usually is the reason 3 or reason 4, even though everyone points to the autodiscovery issues.

Actually some users are not using a computer that is part of the domain, just a workgroup or different domain, could that be the issue?

Yes, that could definitely be an issue.

How can you get the computer to believe its logged in under the correct domain account so that windows thinks its on the domain and the OOF works?

I will have to let another Expert assist with that. I have never had to do it outside a domain environment.  Sorry.

The best way to troubleshoot this is to collect the result for "test Email Auto-configuration" this will tell us what URL's are passed on while the users are outside the domain for OOF assistant.

the way you do Test Email Auto-Configuration" is hold control key & right click the outlook icon in the right hand bottom of your computer. Click Test Email Auto-Configuration & keep only Autodiscover checked. put the users email address & click on test
