Time required to take a 2005 DB off-line

Why does it take a long time to take a MS SQL-2005 DB off-Line?
Any reference to the Microsoft posting/document would be helpful

    Accepted Solution

    Connections to the db are being closed. If you put the db in single user mode first and then take it offline, the offline step will be faster.
