Using Clonezilla on APIPA?

Hi Chaps

I've been introduced to Clonezilla, which I use to clone Windows XP machines. I don't use any of the Linux operating systems, but I thought this would be the most relevant place.

I have a standalone server, which I want to setup for general purposes including cloning but ideally without connecting it to our domain. I want to connect it to a switch and then have whatever machines I want cloned, to be connected to that same switch for it to pick up an APIPA address. I tried but it seems as though Clonezilla can't detect APIPA? Do any of you have any recommendations?

Also, is there a relatively simple guide for using a server to distribute images onto other machines with Clonezilla.

I'm very new to this, so please bare with the stupid comments:).
