iPod Dead?

My iPod worked this morning, now it's completely dead.  It wasn't dropped or anything like that.  I tried to charge it and got no response.  THe screen is completely black.  My laptop tells me it's "not recognized" by the system.

    press menu and select button for 10-20 sec...

    Let you ipod run until it is no power then try to charge and turn on it . Good luck!
