Windows 7 & Dell AIO 966 Fax option missing

I've just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 and reinstalled the latest drivers from Dell for my Dell 966 AIO printer. The printer is working fine and I can scan without a problem . . . . the issue I have is that I know longer have the option to fax a document by printing it. Before the upgrade I had a seperate device "FAX Dell AIO 966". Tried to re-install the driver and still not had any luck in sorting this issue. Any help would be much appreciated!

Probably case of an incompatible driver.
Make sure the driver you are installing is Windows 7 compatible.

Double click on "My Computer" and at the top of the window you should see an option that reads "Uninstall or Change a Program".... click on it.
Next the list of all your installed programs will come up. At the left of the screen you will see and option to "Turn Windows Features ON or Off". Select it. Scroll down to "Print and Document Services" and click on the + sign next to it to expand it. Make sure that Windows Fax and Scan is selected.
Otherwise, you might need to either search for the Windows 7 driver again and install in compatibility mode. Start with the highest Vista SP2 and go down until it either works or fails......
Another option would be to install the Windows XP mode in Windows 7. See the videos at the bottom of this link..... don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions....

By the way... once you scan the document and open it.... it should say "FAX" as one of the printer choices...

Is this Windows 7 x64 bit maybe ?

    Accepted Solution

Fax software is missing from the download from Dell site for Windows 7. I found the disk with Windows XP drivers and software and this installs and works fine (including the fax option)
