I have a PC running W7 HP 64-bit, ATI 4770 graphics, E6750, 4GB RAM and I noticed this morning the aero effect had disappeared.

I ran the troubleshooter and I get the message 'Mirrror Drivers don't support Aero effects'..

I unistalled Logmein Remote access which I had recently installed and re-installed the latest ATI catalyst drivers but no luck.. same message.

Ideas please?

Try to install the fix for the latest ATI driver package:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/ATI-Catalyst--9.12-hotfix-Win-7-%7C-Vista-(32%7C64-bit)-download-2450.html

If that won't work, please remove Catalyst drivers, restart and install drivers from Windows Update site.

If that won't work, completely remove ATI drivers from the system with driver removal tool
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745

After you've remove the driver, you can install fresh driver from ATI web site
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-32bit

and try to install the hotfix for the latest driver package.

Thanks for the help, I tried uninstalling the drivers completely and re-installing but still didn't work.

Reverted to a system backuo from a month ago and all OK, re-installed Logmein and still Ok so have no idea whst it was exactly.

Great website though :-)

    Hi there chrisfixit,,,,

What is the Edition of Windows7 64-bit you have ????? Windows7 Ultimate right ????

Try this please :
http://www.vista123.net/content/how-turn-and-enable-aero-windows-7-enable-aero-peek

If you can email the manufacturer of "ATI catalyst drivers " and ask them for the appropriate driver which support win7 64-bit and all its features just go for it ... although you mentioned you have installed the latest drivers I recommend you to contact their support .

Finally, find and download the latest updated software of the BIOS and install it to make sure you have not issues from the BIOS and MB side .

Best Wishes

Nice neat trick :
Just change the theme to Windows 7
and aero should be running again....

Sounds like the latest driver is buggy.
Best not to leave updates in automatic.
If you do updates manually then you will know what changed.
