Wireless network stopped working

I have a Dell inspiron 6000 laptop. I have had wireless networking working for a long time. Today it just stopped. It can't see any wireless network.

I am currently using a usb network adapter so the rest of the network is ok.

This leads me to the conclusion that it is the inbuilt wireless network adapter that has failed.

I looked at device manager and it thinks the device is working ok.

What is the most likely case? Is there anything I can do?

TIA

There may be a toggle for wireless on that model, fn-f2.  Is it just disabled that way?

Ha! yes

I wonder how that happened.

I'll have to remember that.

Thanks

Sounds like the wireless is switched off.

If my memory serves me correctly, on the 6000 the wireless on/off switch is controlled by pressing the FN key and the F2 key. Sounds like it's been disabled accidentally.

Thanks Mike. Yes but just too late.

I think it must have happened when the cat sat on it.
